This week the Kindergarteners completed their last reading and math lessons. Now we just have a few days of review left. We also finished our end of the year one-on-one testing. We each met with Ms. Torborg several times throughout the week as she checked all of the skills we have learned this year. Boy were we busy this year! On Friday, we celebrated the end of the school year with a graduation celebration. We invited our family and friends to join in on the celebration. We sang a couple of fun songs, watched a video Ms. Torborg made, and received a certificate of completion.
Monday:
Throughout the day, we met with Ms. Torborg so she could check our progress on our letters, letter sounds, and sight words.
In reading, we started a reading packet that reviews different reading concepts from the year. Today we completed the first few pages. We worked on reading CVC words and completing sentences.
In math, we started a math packet that reviews different math concepts from the year. Today we completed the first few pages in our math packet. We worked on ordering numbers, adding on a number line, graphing, and identifying numbers before, after and in between.
In religion, we practiced for our Mass on Friday.
We also practiced our songs for graduation and completed some one on one testing.
Tuesday:
Today when we met with Ms. Torborg she checked our encoding and decoding skills.
In reading, we continued our work in our reading packet. Today we worked on word ladders, real and nonsense words, and CVC words.
In math, we completed the next few pages in our math packet. We worked on function machines, story problems, counting dimes, and telling time.
After recess, we had some special visitors from the Litchfield Rescue Squad. The stop by to talk with us about their job for EMS week. We talked about all of the different ways to stay safe in the summer. Plus they showed us some of their special gear.
In religion, we practiced for our Mass on Friday.
We also practiced our songs for graduation and completed some one on one testing.
Wednesday:
Today was picnic day! Our parents joined us for a picnic lunch. The Knight of Columbus grilled hamburgers for us (right outside our classroom window. It was a beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy lunch.
Ms. Torborg checked our number identification and ordering along with our counting skills.
In reading, we continued our work in our reading packet. We worked on ing words, CVC words, and completing sentences.
In math, we completed the next few pages in our math packet. We worked on telling time, identifying shapes, and identifying numbers before, after and in between.
In religion, we practiced for our Mass on Friday.
Thursday:
In reading, we continued our work in our reading packet. We worked CVC words, word ladders, and unscrambling sentences.
In math, we completed the next few pages in our math packet. We worked on adding, number stories, and identifying numbers before, after and in between.
Besides practicing for our Mass on Friday and for graduation, we watched a video about the Mass as a grand celebration we are invited to (The Friar: The Wedding Feast).
Friday:
Today was graduation day! We started our day out with Mass. We each had a special part to read or do during Mass. Then we spent the rest of the day at the church. We practiced walking in and our songs for graduation, played a few math and reading games and had lunch before the big ceremony. We sang a few songs for our parents and grandparents. Then we watched a video of our school year. It was fun remembering all of the things we have done this year. After receiving our certificates, we enjoyed a treat before heading home.
