We are getting ready for Christmas in the Kindergarten room. We started the week off by learning about wants and needs. Then we created a class book called, All I Want For Christmas. We each wrote a Christmas list with things we really need and things we really want for Christmas. We also wrote about what we would do if we woke up and found Santa stuck in our chimney just like in the story, Santa’s Stuck. We then created a picture of Santa stuck in a chimney. We ended the week by exploring the candy cane. We listened to the story, The Legend of the Candy Cane, and compared it to the movie. We also made candy cane ornaments. Our week wouldn’t be complete without learning about 2 special Saints, St. Nicholas and St. Juan Diego, and celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. On Tuesday we arrived at school to treats in our shoes. St. Nicholas taught us that it is more important to give than to receive. OnThursday we attended Mass in honor of Mary and her willingness to say “yes” to God. On Friday, we heard the story of how Mary chose Juan Diego to give the Bishop a special sign from Our Lady of Guadeloupe.
