In honor of Valentine's Day, we created a new class book filled with our writing about love. Each student contributed a page showcasing all the things they love. Additionally, we engaged in some Valentine’s math using a box of candy hearts. We practiced estimating, patterning, adding, graphing, and measuring, and at the end, we enjoyed some of the candy! We also took some time to learn about St. Valentine, who was martyred for celebrating Mass and marrying couples.
Friday marked the 100th day of school, coinciding with Valentine’s Day. We began our celebrations on the 99th day by creating a 100th day crown adorned with 100 dots and making necklaces from 100 fruit loops. Furthermore, we illustrated ourselves at 100 years old and compiled a bucket list of things we wish to accomplish before reaching that age.
On Friday, we celebrated our 100th day in the morning and Valentine’s Day in the afternoon. Our day kicked off with Mass at Our Lady in Mananah. After returning to school, we participated in a fun hunt where Ms. Torborg had hidden 100 Starburst candies throughout the classroom. Each piece of candy had a special number for us to identify after discovering it. Ms. Torborg also surprised us with a special snack! In the afternoon, we celebrated St. Valentine by exchanging Valentines, spending time with our 5th-grade buddies, and playing games with our room parents.
