This week, we delved deeper into our study of plants. We began by examining the various parts of a plant, from the roots to the flowers, discovering the important roles each part plays:

  • Roots: Anchor the plant and absorb water from the soil.

  • Stem: Supports the plant and transports nutrients.

  • Leaves: Produce food for the entire plant.

  • Flowers: Generate fruits and seeds.

  • Seeds: Give rise to new plants.

After learning about these functions, we documented our findings and created a flip chart featuring a flower on top.

Additionally, we realized that when we consume fruits and vegetables, we are eating different parts of the plant. For one snack, we enjoyed a variety of plant parts: carrot roots, celery stems, spinach leaves, cauliflower flowers, and sunflower seeds.

Lastly, we explored the various methods by which seeds disperse to new locations.
